The New York Times, investigators have managed to trace the source of attacks. Two schools of computers installed in China are concerned.

Sergey Brin may well have defused the bomb when it decided to postpone the highly unlikely departure from Google’s China market, controversy continues about the origin of the attacks that took place in December against Gmail accounts of Chinese rights activists Rights.
Google had then pointed to China and threatened to protest, to release the filter of his local search engine. The Chinese government has always denied these accusations. But the attacks come from many of the Middle Kingdom.
The New York Times, which relies on unnamed sources, the investigation has to go back to Shanghai Jiaotong University, a Chinese university known for its IT department. Another source of the attack, the vocational school Lanxiang that particular form of computer for the army.
Also according to the New York daily, the attacks “intended to steal secrets comercial and computer codes and to retrieve the addresses of Internet activists human rights China” would have begun in April 2009. Google said for its part to have recorded in December.
Google is not the only company targeted by these attacks. A dozen other large companies have been victims. But, with the exception of Twitter, they have obviously preferred to keep quiet about such threats. Google’s protest had been sustained in particular by the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Pending a conclusion to the investigation of the origin of attacks, Google continues to comply with Chinese regulations and, therefore, to filter its search results on the Chinese market but said negotiations with the authorities to find a compromise to provide more freedom of information to Chinese users. We wish them a lot of courage.
